“Seek, and ye shall find.”
(Matthew 7:7)
Worship is one of the most beautiful privileges God offers us.
It is more than a song or a moment of prayer.
It is the turning of our hearts toward the One who knows us best.
In worship, we reflect on who God is, His kindness, His faithfulness, His mercy and allow His goodness to fill the empty spaces of our hearts.
But how do we truly seek Him?
Matthew 7:7 gives us a simple invitation: “Seek, and you will find.”
The word seek in Greek, zēteō, means to aim at, strive after, desire deeply, or inquire of someone. It carries the sense of both reaching and longing.
Yet there is a hidden treasure in this word.
In Hebrew expression, zēteō can also mean to worship… or to plot against life.
In other words, every search of our heart will either draw us closer to God… or pull us further from His plans.
Turning Our Struggles into Worship
Think of David.
He spent years running from skilled men of war who wanted him dead. He lived through rejection, betrayal, sleepless nights, and moments so dark that hope seemed distant.
Yet when the Lord said, “Seek My face,” David’s heart responded,
“Your face, Lord, will I seek.” (Psalm 27:8)
David did not wait for perfect circumstances to worship.
He worshiped in caves, in the wilderness, in the thick of fear and loss.
He cried out, “I have trusted in Your mercy. My heart will rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has dealt bountifully with me.” (Psalm 13:5-6)
David’s deepest wounds became the wellspring of his worship.
His search for God gave us the Psalms, words still sung by hearts that seek Him today.
A Gentle Reminder
No matter where you are or what you face, God is still saying, “Seek My face.”
Why?
Because His light can reach into our darkest places.
Because His joy meets us in the very moments we feel forgotten.
Because when we seek Him, even through our tears, we find a love that never lets us go.
Even in the depths of despair, God is there.
(Psalm 139:8)
You cannot outrun His goodness.
You cannot outlast His mercy.
A Choice We All Face
David stood at a crossroads many times.
He could either seek God or seek escape.
He could worship… or give in to fear.
By choosing worship, David secured his future in God’s hands.
And in return, God established him in His eternal story.
(Luke 1:32-33)
We face the same choice every day.
Will we seek God in all things… or let our hearts plot against His plans for us?
Friend, let us not be like a mule that needs a bridle to follow.
Let us seek Him freely, trusting that He will guide us, watch over us, and never leave us behind.
(Psalm 32:8-9)
Let us seek Him… through worship.
